Abstract

A dictionary is a book that contains words from a language, usually arranged alphabetically, accompanied by descriptions of their pronunciation, spelling, and so on. Each dictionary has advantages and disadvantages. Dictionaries in books have advantages in terms of word count and disadvantages in the form of word searches that take a long time. To speed up and simplify the process of searching for relevant words, an algorithm is needed that can maximize the search process and the weighting of these words. To facilitate the search for information technology terms in mobile applications, a mobile application is designed using the Horspool Algorithm. In designing and building this mobile-based information technology term dictionary application, it is used for Extreme Programming software development. The design uses DFD (Data Flow Diagram) and database design uses ERD (Entity Relationship Diagram), coding uses Kotlin and Mysql for databases. The results of the accuracy rate of research on the influence of the Horspool algorithm on the search for information technology dictionary terms reach 91%.
