Abstract

Bengkalis Island has many coastal areas. Of course, this cannot be separated from the problems that often arise in coastal areas, namely beach abrasion caused by sea wave activity. The case study for this final project is the coast of the New Straits. The purpose of this study was to identify changes in thickness and determine the characteristics of sedimentation caused by the transport of sediment by waves. The method used is in the form of field observations, namely taking coordinates, measuring elevation data using a total station, taking samples to be tested in the laboratory, namely testing sieving, specific gravity and hydrometer to determine the characteristics of sediments and comparing them by making contours using AutoCAD Civil 3D software. The results showed that the dominating characteristics in the tourism area zone were fine sand 31.74% and silt 27.3%. The fine sand groyne area zone is 11.75%, and silt is 14.7%. The fine sand breakwater area zone is 26.58%, and silt is 4.2%.
