Abstract

The measurement of Base Transceiver Station (BTS) tower verticality plays a crucial role in ensuring optimal performance and safety of the telecommunications infrastructure. This research aims to measure the verticality of BTS towers using the ArcGIS application and analyze the relationship between the tower's degree of inclination and its average lifespan. This study focuses on the verticality measurement and mapping of BTS towers using ArcGIS to assess their connection with tower lifespan. Satellite image data and spatial information are utilized for analysis. The results of the measurements are analyzed to identify towers with significant incline. The age data of BTS towers are obtained from maintenance and construction historical records. The measurement of tower inclination is performed through spatial analysis tools and geostatistics in ArcGIS. The correlation between inclination and tower lifespan is evaluated through statistical analysis. The findings indicate a connection between inclination and tower lifespan; towers with lower inclination tend to have longer lifespans. These findings hold value for maintenance and replacement strategies in the telecommunications industry. The use of ArcGIS aids in identifying towers that require special attention, supporting long-term telecommunications infrastructure planning. The researched BTS towers still adhere to the inclination standards (IEC, TIA, ANSI/TIA-222-G): 1-3 degrees.
