Abstract

In line with technological developments in field of automation, this research intends to make an automatic motor coil winder. Coil winding process is usually done manually, optimized to automatic using DC motor. DC motors have a fast response, but have steady state error. One of controllers used the Proportional Integral Derivative (PID). PID is action control that has a fast response, so this control is suitable when used to control the speed of DC motor. This study uses Arduino Nano, IR sensors, speed sensors, TB6600 drivers, BTS7960 drivers, DC motors, stepper motors, OLED, NodeMCU and Android system. The tuning method in determining the PID parameters is a trial and error, so the values for Kp = 0.1143, Ki = 0.012 and Kd = 0.0019028 are obtained. The control system works well it reaches the setpoint with average time response (tr) = 2.51 s, average time steady (ts) = 10.78 s, average maximum overshoot (Mp) = 1.23 % with average steady state error rate (Ess) = 0.35%. The tool works optimally at speed of 50 to 250 RPM with average level of rolling accuracy of 100%, at speed of 300 RPM the average level of winding accuracy is 99%.
