Abstract

Most of the highway construction in Indonesia uses a flexible pavement type with oil asphalt as a binder and aggregate as well as filler or asphalt mixture filler. Apart from oil asphalt, another form of utilization as an asphalt mixture is natural rubber. Natural rubber has high elasticity and good flexibility. Therefore, the use of rubber asphalt is carried out using rock ash and cement filler as an asphalt mixture using the Marshall method for heavy traffic. This research was conducted at the State Polytechnic of Bengkalis Highway Laboratory by making a total of 30 specimens. The best results for cement content is a 50% variation on the optimum rubber bitumen content of 6.5% with an average value of marshall characteristics including stability 2132.62 kg, flow 2.43 mm, VFA 78.13%, VMA 17.11% , VIM 3, 75% and MQ 923.62 kg/mm. While the best results for rock ash content are 100% variation at optimum rubber bitumen content of 6.5% with an average stability value of 2632.28 kg, flow 2.88 mm, VFA 73.50%, VMA 18.00%, VIM 4.77% and MQ 968.15 kg/mm. After a comparison between 50% cement variations and 100% rock ash, for rubber asphalt mixture in this study it is better to use rock ash filler because of the higher characteristic value.
