Abstract

Fuel hikes and the LPG crisis are issues that need attention. The limitation of fossil fuels is the cause of the energy crisis. For this reason, renewable energy is needed to replace fossil fuels which are decreasing day by day. One type of renewable energy and can be a source of energy in the future is Microbial Full Cell (MFC). MFC is a bio-electrochemical system that utilizes the natural metabolism of microbes to produce energy. This study aims to determine the effect of electrode combination, surface area and electrode distance on the electrical voltage. By using a single chamber design containing substrate and electrolyte solution. The electrodes used are metal plates of several types of materials such as copper, zinc, aluminum and lead. The substrate used is liquid tofu waste mixed with EM4 with incubation time for 3 days. This research method is an experimental research method. The voltage electrical value was calculated every 5 minutes for 150 minutes. The results of observations with a combination of Zn and Cu electrodes produced a higher voltage compared to other electrode combinations with a voltage value of 0.66 V at minute 5 using a surface area of 5 cm x 4 cm at an electrode distance of 4 cm.
