Abstract

Fiberglass boats are an alternative material to replace wooden boats to increase the productivity of fishermen. In this study, the authors used a propulsion engine on a 5 GT fiberglass boat, namely a Dong Feng type diesel engine with model: 495G, maximum rated output: 48HP/2200 RPM, and net weight: 480 KG. In this study the aims were to determine the characteristics and location of the greatest stress from the softening structure of the driving machine based on three variations. In this study the method used is the finite element method. The equations of the entire system are formed by combining the equations of the elements. For the results obtained from the Ansys workbench 2020 R2 software simulation, the largest von Mises stress (equivalent stress) value occurs in the model A engine singer with a value of 5.00E-02 (0.05 MPA). Meanwhile, the lowest von Misesstress (equivalent stress) occurs in the model B bus engine with a value of 4.00E-02. And the largest total deformation value occurs in the rhythm engine model A with a value of 1.71E-04. While the smallest total deformation value occurs in the model B engine support with a value of 1.68E-04. So the results of testing the ship propulsion loudspeakers using ansys workbench 2020 R2 with model B on the engine whisper produced the lowest equivalent stress value with a value of 4.00E�02 and the lowest total deformation with a value of 1.68E-04.
