Abstract

A grater is a tool used to smooth an ingredient, which in this case is herbal spices such as turmeric, ginger, and galangal. Which in this case is herbal ingredients such as turmeric, ginger, and galangal. This rimapang grater uses transmission in the form of pulleys and belts with a ratio of pulleys used is the pulley comparison ratio used is 1:2 and 2: 1. The ratio of 1:2 pulley ratio can grate rhizomes with a capacity of 1 kg, while the comparison of the pulley ratio 2:1 can grate rhizomes with a capacity of 0.5 kg. For von mises analysis using solid work on the shaft of the grater with a ratio of 1:2 with the hardest type of rhizome, namely galangal is Von mises with a max value of 2.1e+07 N/m2 and min 5.2e+02 N/m2, yield strength 2.5e+08 N/m2, displacement max 3.3e-02 mm and min 0.0e+00 mm, deformation scale 1.0 and safety factor 1.1. As for the von mises analysis on grater shaft with a ratio of 1: 2 with the hardest type of rhizome, namely galangal is Von mises with a max value of 1.0e+07 N/m2 and a min value of 2.5e+03 N/m2, yield strength 2.5e+08 N/m2, displacement max 1.6e-02 mm and min 0.0e+00 mm, deformation scale 2.1 and safety factor 2.3.
