Abstract
Bengkalis regency is one of the regencies in Riau Province with the capital city of Bengkalis located on Bengkalis Island, separated from Sumatra Island. The total area of Bengkalis Regency generally work as fisherman. The need for fishing boats on the coast of Bengkalis Regency is very large, currently many fisherman have switched to using fiber boats. There are quite a lot of fiber boat users in Bengkalis Regency, especially in the Bengkalis Island area. Meanwhile, there are only two repair places for fiber ships, namely Bengkalis Marine Fiber and Laksamana Marine Fiber. Bengkalis Marine Fiber is the largest fiber shipyard on Bengkalis Island which accepts new shipbuilding and fiber ship repair for the Bengkalis Island area and it’s surroundings. However, due to the high demand for boat repairs by fisherman, sometimes shipyard owners are forced to refuse because they cannot fulfil it due to limited facilities at the shipyards such as the absence of a separate room between the shipyard and the workshop, the absence of facilities such as slipway dock, and the unorganized flow of material from the shipyard. So it’s necessary to develop the layout and facilities at this shipyard in order to meet the needs of repairing fiber fishing boats on Bengkalis Island and its surrounding.
