Abstract

Cocopeat and cocofiber separating machine, the function of making this tool is to make it easier to chop or break down coconut fiber so as to produce maximum cocopeat and cocofiber production. The research methods used to obtain data include; field surveys, literacy studies, planning drawings, calculations to determine the components to be used and the manufacturing or assembly process. Based on the research that has been carried out, a cocopeat and cocofiber separator was created. Specifications for a cocopeat and cocofiber separator designed to be driven by a petrol motor and a capacity of 43 kg/hour. The blade on this tool consists of 30 moving blades so that the coir can be crushed according to needs. It is hoped that it will be able to chop with faster results and from the results of the tests carried out, maximum results can be obtained, namely the rotation speed of the cocopeat and cocofiber separator machine. 3600 rpm with 4 kg of test material with a decomposition time of 5 minutes at a speed of 3600 rpm. The percentage of cocofiber produced that decomposes is 80%, that which does not decompose is 10% and the cocopeat produced is 40%. The cocopeat and cocofiber separating machine has dimensions of 150 cm long, 50 cm wide and 70 cm high. The engine's driving source is a 7.5 HP petrol motor.
