Abstract

In addition to the air-fuel mixture ratio (AFR) and the octane rating entering the combustion chamber, the ignition system also plays a significant role in the performance of a four-stroke internal combustion engine. One of the components of the ignition system is the coil, which functions to increase the voltage received from the battery to a higher voltage. This high voltage is then connected to the spark plug via a cable called the spark plug wire. The resistance in the spark plug wire is directly proportional to its length; the longer the wire, the greater the resistance. To address this, the spark plug wire is shortened to reduce resistance. In this study, a standard Yamaha Mio GT 115 cc motorcycle coil, brand Genuine, with a 20 cm spark plug wire was used. During testing, the spark plug wire length was varied into three lengths: initially at 100% (20 cm/standard), then reduced to 50% (10 cm), and 25% (5 cm). The performance data (torque and power) collected from the gasoline engine was processed using Mamdani-type Fuzzy Logic reasoning, with the output AFR_Simulation. The highest value was obtained from a spark plug wire length of 25% (5 cm), with an input torque of 12.30 and an input power of 5.2 at 3000 rpm, resulting in the highest output, 11 AFR_Simulation. This was also followed by the highest pure Air Fuel Ratio (AFR) of 13.04 and the lowest resistance at the spark plug wire length of 25% (5 cm) at 11.58 Ohms.
