Abstract

Indonesia faces the challenge of managing palm frond waste which often causes negative environmental impacts. This research develops a pyrolysis method to process this waste, producing products such as liquid smoke with high heating value. The focus is to design and analyze the performance of the condenser on a pyrolysis device with a capacity of 150 kg using SolidWorks software and the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method. The results show that the designed condenser is able to reduce the input temperature from 70 °C to 30.03 °C with a heat transfer rate of 1333 W and an average heat transfer coefficient of 1927 W/m². This research contributes to the development of more effective and environmentally friendly pyrolysis technology for managing palm frond waste in Indonesia.
