Abstract

Metal casting is a manufacturing process that uses molten metal to produce shapes close to the final product by pouring the metal into molds. Two common types of molds used are permanent molds and sand molds. Sand molds, while more complex, can produce more economically viable cast products in various sizes. In the field of mechanical engineering, sand casting technology is crucial, especially in the production of ship propellers. This research aims to create an aluminum propeller using sand molds. The methods employed include making a pattern from resin and the casting process with sand media. The expected result is a ship propeller with a diameter of 200mm and 3 blades, which maintains good quality despite using recycled aluminum. This research is intended to serve as a reference for mechanical engineering students and those involved in metal casting, particularly in Bengkalis Regency.
