Abstract

The shrimp farming industry faces challenges in terms of optimal feeding efficiency, especially in shrimp farms that manage several ponds simultaneously. This research aims to design and develop a prototype shrimp feeding automation system that can be operated in an integrated manner on several ponds using a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). The system is designed to improve feeding efficiency, reduce human error, and monitor and control the feeding process in real-time. The methods used in this research include hardware and software design, system testing on a laboratory scale, and operational simulation on shrimp ponds. From the test results show that the DC motor on is given an input voltage of 12 V, the components on the shrimp feeder are given current or voltage through the power supply, the test results on the machine this system is able to provide feed automatically with time intervals and predetermined amounts for each pond, and provides flexibility in setting operational parameters through an easy-to-use user interface. Overall testing of the tool was carried out in the morning and afternoon with a total of 10 tests, with 8 successes and 2 failures, the percentage of success in the overall test was 80% and the percentage of failure was 5%. The implementation of this PLC-based system is expected to significantly increase the productivity and operational efficiency of shrimp ponds.
