Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the addition of rice husk ash and fly ash as a brick mixture material on its mechanical properties from the porosity test, combustion shrinkage, size and compressive strength as well as to determine the best percentage of mixture in bricks. This study used samples measuring 190 mm in length, 92 mm in width, and 65 mm in height SNI 15-2094-2000 m5a module. The variation in the composition of rice husk ash and fly ash was added by 20%, 25%, and 30%, respectively. The manufacture of bricks is carried out by printing a mixture of soil, rice husk ash, fly ash and water by compaction. And burning for 24 hours. Testing of the mechanical properties of bricks includes porosity, burn shrinkage, size and compressive strength tests based on SNI 15-2094-2000. The addition of rice husk ash and fly ash with a percentage of 20% to 30% can affect the mechanical properties of bricks, namely increasing the porosity of bricks. The percentage of addition of rice husk ash and fly ash of 20%, 25% and 30% with an additional 0.296 kilograms of water can reduce the combustion of red bricks. The addition of 20%, 25%, and 30% rice husk ash was achieved with the addition of 25% rice husk ash and fly at 0.85 N/mm2
