Abstract

The Archimedes Screw is one type of water turbines that has the potential for small-scale electricity generation that is environmentally friendly, where the screw type of water turbine is very suitable for rivers in Indonesia because the operation of this turbine only requires a low turbine head. Based on the potential for irrigation river water with a discharge of 0.819m3/s in the PT. MESKOM¬-Bengkalis, allows installation of screw type turbine. In the process of designing ascrew-type water turbine, optimization of the screw turbine is carried out by determining the value of the d/D ratio, then performing mechanical calculations to determine the dimensions of the turbine blades, turbine shaft, as well as the power that the turbine can produce, with an angle of 45º.
