Abstract

This research is to design and manufacture a distillation device for citronella oil distillation with a capacity of 100 kg. Designing this type of distillator using ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) design standards and making design drawings using the 2017 version of Autodesk Inventor software. The dimensions of the distillator are 800 mm in diameter and 1200 mm in height. The material used is Stainlees steel 304 and Stainlees steel pipes. With a cylinder volume of 454 kg, a design pressure of 65 psi and a design temperature of 352 oF. The distillation method that will be used is the direct steam distillation method. the results of the test on variations of one steam input and operating pressure of 2 bar with a long test time of 5 hours obtained a yield of 0.155% in the first hour, 0.26% in one hour second 0.235% at the third hour,0.2% at the fourth hour and 0.15% at the last hour. the test results on variations of two inputs and operating pressure of 2 bar for 5 hours resulted in a yield of 0.1% in the first hour, 0.175% in the second hour, 0.145% in the third hour, 0.115% in the fourth hour and 0.11% in the last hour
