Abstract

In this case, material testing and welding results are needed in the shipping industry, the mechanical properties of a material consist of hardness, ductility, toughness and strength. This test is also to find out any indication of defects in a material or the result of welding. In testing the material is divided into 2, namely destructive testing / DT (Destructive test) and nondestructive testing / NDT (Non destructive test) which is often used to test a material itself because this method is more effective and efficient than other methods. Using the NDT Method Many benefits can be obtained, such as relatively low costs and less time. One of the methods of NDT (Non Destructive Testing) is the Liquid Penetrant Testing method. Liquid penetrant testing is one of the methods of testing the type of NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) which is relatively easy and practical to do. This liquid penetrant test can be used to find out fine discontinuities on the surface such as cracks, holes or leaks. When conducting field inspections, this method is very easy and practical because it does not require special tools in its application..
