Abstract

Soil on the island of Bengkalis has a CBR (California Bearing Ratio) value of soil below the standard CBR, for road pavements, which is at least 6%, so to achieve CBR in pavements that meet standards, it is necessary to improve the subgrade by adding a layer of foundation above the subgrade for flexible pavement. In this study, the authors took class B aggregate, which is the part of the pavement located between the sub-base layer and the surface layer obtained from 3 quarries in Bengkalis Island. The test carried out is the comparison of correlation between soaked and unsoaked CBR designs based on gradation variations in the field (class B aggregate case study). The design CBR value for unsoaked conditions was carried out on class B aggregates carried out in 3 different quarries, with an unsoaked CBR value of 76.1% from quari 1, a value of 69.9% from quari 2, and a value of 67.5% from quari 3. Among the three quaries, the highest value was obtained from quari to 1. And the value of the design CBR for the soaked condition, with the CBR soaked value of 43.2% from quari 1, the value of 70.3% from quari 2, and a value of 66 ,3% of quari 3. Among the three quarries, the highest value was obtained from quari 2. And from the comparison graph the CBR value for soaked conditions is lower than the CBR value for unsoaked conditions. The percentage of decrease in Laboratory CBR value from unsoaked to soaked base B aggregate material from quari 1 with a value of 43.23%, quari 2 with a value of 15.43%, and quari 3 with a value of 14.81%. Comparison of the decrease in Laboratory CBR values for soaked and unsoaked conditions was 0.568 from quari 1, 0.845 from quari 2, and 0.852 from quari 3
