Abstract
The cause of the energy crisis or the unequal supply of electricity to the community is one of them in remote places, especially in Indonesia. The distribution of electrical energy will be easily done in a place that is close to the power plant, or in a public place that is easily accessible. However, distribution will be difficult if the location is far and not easy to reach, such as on the coast, especially in remote areas that are not covered by the national electricity grid. Therefore, the use of new and renewable energy sources needs to be developed considering the role and price of fuel oil (BBM ) continues to increase and soar as a substitute for the supply of sustainable energy. Indonesia has the opportunity to develop sea water (salted ) as the largest alternative energy source, sea water is a mixture of 96.5% pure water and 3.5% other materials such as salts and others. With the use of salt water as a source of electrical energy can be done by electrochemical cell methods. An electrochemical cell is a device that can generate electrical current from the energy produced by the reaction inside the cell, which is in the form of an oxidation reduction reaction. With this reduction and oxidation reaction, it will produce an electric current which is commonly referred to as electrical energy. The voltage generated after testing is able to 0.50V per 1L of water with 250g of salt, if connected between all cells as much as 20 will be able to produce a voltage of 10V.
