Abstract
Department of Marine Engineering, Bengkalis State Polytechnic, which was founded in 2001, is one of the majors that provides opportunities for children from the region to pursue higher education in order to meet the needs of experts in the field of shipping engineering. In general, residents who inhabit coastal areas predominantly make a living as traditional fisherman who carry out their activities for generations using a small wooden boat with limited equipment. The boats they use are made of wood with shapes and designs that suit the needs of traditional fisherman, so they are often called traditional boats. Problems arise when the wood raw materials used as boat-building materials are increasingly fisherman scarce. So that it causes delays in making boats so that it has an impact on traditional fisherman. Many traditional fisherman experience difficulties in completing the boat that will be made. The boat that should have been completed and can be used according to the target that has been set, is not in accordance with the predictions
