Abstract

The sludge content in the gravel will block the attachment between cement paste and the surface of the gravel, resulting in reduced mortar strength, and finally the compressive strength of the concrete will also decrease. The sludge content in gravel is limited to not more than 1% according to SNI. However, it needs to be investigated further on how much the actual sludge content in the gravel that cause concrete compressive strength has decresed significantly. In thi study to determine the effect of the level of sludge in the gravel on the compressive strength of concrete at 28 days with variations namely natural sludge and sludge content <1%. The specimen used is a cylinder with a diameter of 15 cm and a height of 30 cm with the compressive strength of concrete plans of 20 MPa, 25 MPa and 30 MPa. The result showed an increase in the compressive strength of concrete occurred in the concrete where the coarse aggregate was washed.
