Abstract

The use of Microwave Ovens is increasing significantly every year. Damaged Microwave Ovens are one of the causes of electronic waste. One part of the microwave that is commonly used is a transformer or transformer. Therefore, Penunis wants to take advantage of the microwave transformer by modifying it into a portable spot welding machine by replacing the primary winding on the transformer into a 25mm welding cable to convert from low voltage 220V to high voltage. This modification aims to determine the heat strength that can be generated from a microwave transformer. The method used in this research is to design, modify, then test on a zinc plate with a thickness of 0.2mm. The heat obtained from the modification of the microwave transformer is 88.90C-145.40C and the suppression time is 3-15 seconds. This spot welding is also capable of cutting up to 4 layers of 0.2 mm zinc plate with a heat reaching 154.40C in 15 seconds.
