Abstract
Tilapia fish farming requires proper water quality management and feeding to ensure optimal fish growth. Problems commonly faced by fish farmers are the monitoring of water pH and feeding, which are still carried out manually, making them less effective and potentially reducing aquaculture productivity. This research aims to design and develop a prototype system for monitoring water pH and automatically feeding tilapia based on the Internet of Things (IoT). The system uses the NodeMCU ESP32 as the main microcontroller, a pH sensor to measure water quality, a servo motor as the driving mechanism for the feeding system and as a warning indicator, a 16×2 I2C LCD as a local display medium, and a mobile application to monitor water pH conditions and control feeding manually or automatically through the internet network. The research methods used include hardware design, software design, system implementation, and testing using the Black Box Testing method. The test results show that the system is capable of monitoring water pH values in real-time, sending data to the mobile application, activating when the pH value is outside the normal range (6.5–8.5), and carrying out feeding according to the predetermined schedule or manually through the application. Based on the test results, all system functions operate as expected, so the developed prototype can help fish farmers monitor water quality and manage feeding more effectively, efficiently, and flexibly.
