Abstract

One of the requirements for completing Diploma III education in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Bengkalis State Polytechnic is that students must make a final report, either in the form of research, design or engineering. The main principle of the implementation of this final project is so that students can apply the knowledge that has been obtained during the lecture process at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Bengkalis State Polytechnic. In making the design of a rice dryer, a LPG gas power rotation system, it is hoped that it can help shorten the drying process of post-harvest rice. This design method includes literature study, design making, tool and material selection, and then the final step of the tool design process and tool testing. From the results of this test, it is obtained the level of heat used in the drying process and the long time in the drying process using this tool. From the results of this test, the drying time was obtained for 30 minutes with a temperature of 90-110ºC with an initial weight of 1 kg and achieved a result of reducing rice about 2% from the initial weight of 1 kg to 800 g. The testing was carried out in the machine tool workshop, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Bengkalis State Polytechnic.
