Abstract

Brakes is a component of a motorcycle that functions to slow or stop the motorbike comfortably. So the researchers wanted to know the value and hardnes motorcycle brake and make samples motorcycle brake using environmentally friendly composite material with some variation of the material composition. The materials used in this study were fine powdered coconut fibers using mesh size, resin with hardner as hardener. Manufacture of brake lining is obtained by mixing all the ingredients and printed until a few days hardened. Testing was conducted on the wear test. Brake lining material in this study in the wear test with variasisi ingredients which are served on the flow chart of testing. The file obtained from testing the wear rate of brake lining is the largest composition of coconut fiber powder by sieving using a mesh size of 8, with a composition of 60%, resin + hardener 40%, with a value of 1.3x10 -6 grams / mm . while the lowest wear value is in the composition of coconut fiber powder by sifting using a mesh size of 30 as much as 60%, resin + hardener 40%, with a value of 3.47x10 gram / mm 2 . sec. 2 -7
