Abstract
In 2020 the Bengkalis State Polytechnic mini yard has built a boat made of wood, which has a length of 5 meters and a width of 1.2 meters: However, the boats made still lack propulsion. According to Ied Habibie et al (2010), the efficiency of fishing business can be maximized if the facilities and infrastructure are developed using adequate techniques or advanced technology. The technology that determines the fishing business in relation to fishing vessels is the use of machines (mechanisation) to propel the ship. Geographically, Bengkalis Island is located in the Malacca Strait at coordinates 01031'29''N and 102028'13''BT and is directly adjacent to Malaysia. Bengkalis Island is one of the outermost small islands in the Riau province. This island is separated from the island of Sumatra, and between the two islands there is a strait called the Bengkalis Strait, which is where the shrimp net fishermen carry out their work.
