Abstract

Shield Metal arc Welding is welding with electric arc that use heat source for melt the metal (electrode) the research want to know how the character of carbon steel ST37 after using current variation of 110A, 120A, 130A and travel speed of 150 mm/s,120 mm/s, 100 mm/s with electrode type E6013 diameter 2.6 and using the V groove on the material or base metal with angle 70°. Based on the research tensile strength in the high current of 110A with travel speed 150 mm/s amount 497,17 N/mm2 which experienced an increase in strain 18%. As well as the highest strain value 20% with tensile strength 491,70 N/mm2 contained in the current 130A with speed 100 mm/s and the highest bending strength of 832,35 N/mm2 at current 110 with a speed of 150 mm/s2.
