Abstract

Turning process is one of the activities that is often carried out in the manufacturing industry, specifically to produce machining parts. To produce a good product in machining, the cutting tool is used as a tool, the HSS tool is a tool that is often used in research and industry. The tool can not be used continuously so this research aims to find out the effect of cutting speed on the HSS tool's eye temperature with ST 37 steel workpiece. With cutting speed that is. V1 = 6,594m / min, v2 = 17,898m / min, v3 = 28,26m / min. The results obtained from the research showed that at the cutting speed of 17,898m / min, the highest temperature results were obtained. In the use of high speed the risk to the tool blade is relatively large, the high cutting speed v decreases the function of HSS tool life
