Abstract

Attendance is the record of someone's presence or an employee's presence, which is part of the reporting process of an institution. It contains well-organized and easily searchable data on attendance status, which can be accessed by relevant parties when needed. Many institutions still rely on manual methods for collecting attendance data, such as signature-based attendance registers. The compilation and reporting of employee attendance are also done manually. Manual attendance systems have weaknesses that can lead to fraud, such as proxy attendance, unstructured leave permits, and the difficulty for HR departments to compile monthly attendance data. To address these challenges, an Employee Attendance Application is developed Using GPS (Global Positioning System) technology and Facial Recognition at the Office of the Department of Education and Culture of Rokan Hilir Regency. This application is equipped with GPS technology and a Camera and is designed using the PHP programming language with the Laravel framework. GPS is a satellite navigation and positioning system, while the Camera refers to a webcam. This system provides a solution to facilitate employee attendance management, thereby improving employee performance and accurately calculating attendance recapitulation.
