Abstract

Rivers are natural channels on the surface of the earth that collect and drain rainwater from high areas to lower areas. Due to the tides, the Jangkang river experienced sedimentation so that the river flow made the current slow and the river elevation shallow. This study aims to determine the characteristics of sediment and sediment volume distribution rate. The method used is in the form of field observations, namely cross section measurements, flow velocity, sampling to be tested in the laboratory, namely sieving, specific gravity and hydrometer tests to determine the characteristics of the sediment that will be entered into the HEC-RAS software and compare it with the empirical equations of Shen and Hungs. to get the rate of distribution of sediment volume. The results of the characteristic study dominated at STA 0+000 fine sand 36.93% and silt 25.2%, STA 0+050 fine sand 44.38% and silt 16.80%, and STA 0+100 namely fine sand 51, 78 %, silt 18.9 %. The HEC-RAS calculation results were obtained for 4 months at STA 0+000 of 770 kg and empirical calculations of 41,314,400 tons, STA 0+050 of 1550 kg and empirical calculations of 34,318.08 tons, STA 0+100 of 2320 kg and Empirical calculation of 7960.55 tons.
