Abstract
Fishing Boats In Jurong Village Still Often Use Manual Power Or Simple Engines That Lack Electric Starters And Forward-Reverse Systems. This Study Designed A Modification Of The 6.5 HP Robin Engine To Provide A More Efficient Boat Propulsion System. Modifications Include The Installation Of A Forward-Reverse Gearbox, Electric Starter System, Connecting Bracket, Propeller Shaft, And Engine Mount On A Fiberglass Boat. Calculation Of Vessel Resistance Using The Van Oortmerssen Method In Maxsurf Software Showed That The Engine Is Capable Of Meeting The Power Requirements To Reach Speeds Of 6–7 Knots. Sea Trial Results Also Demonstrated That The Propulsion System Performed Well, Was Stable, And Easy To Operate. This Modification Was Deemed Feasible As An Economical Solution For Local Fishing Boats.
