Abstract

Wooden Boats Are Still Widely Used As River Transportation, But The Scarcity Of Quality Wood And The High Maintenance Requirements Have Become Challenges In Operating Such Boats. This Study Aims To Design And Construct A Fishing Boat Made Of Fiberglass As An Alternative To Wooden Boats On The Rokan River In Jurong Village. The Research Method Includes Literature Study, Field Data Collection, Determination Of The Main Dimensions Of The Boat Using The Linear Regression Method, Boat Design Using Maxsurf And Autocad Software, And The Construction Process Applying The Hand Lay-Up Method. The Results Produce A Boat With A Length Of 5.00 M, Width Of 1.25 M, Height Of 0.50 M, And Draft Of 0.3 M, Which Is Suitable For River Conditions. Initial Testing Shows That The Fiberglass Boat Floats Properly, Withstands River Water Conditions, And Is Ready For Use. This Study Demonstrates That The Design And Construction Of A Fiberglass Boat Can Be Applied As A Feasible Water Transportation Option For River Areas In Jurong Village.
