Abstract

This study presents the design and construction of a fiberglass Splicing Boat using a modular concept consisting of three detachable sections: bow, midship, and stern. The aims are to produce a boat that can be easily assembled and disassembled, determine an appropriate structural configuration for a modular fiberglass hull, and design a strong and watertight joint system. The methodology includes hull-form and general arrangement design using Maxsurf and AutoCAD, structural analysis of the hull and internal framing, design of flange connections with M14 bolts, Savitsky resistance prediction, and prototype fabrication using the hand lay-up method. Results show that the modular configuration improves transportation, assembly, and maintenance efficiency without reducing structural stiffness. The five-layer laminate and reinforced PVC frames provide sufficient strength for light tourism operations. Resistance calculations indicate that a 10 HP outboard engine can achieve an operational speed of approximately 6 knots.
