Desain Dan Pembuatan Kapal Nelayan Berskala Kecil untuk Nelayan Sungai Lesing

The Lesing River is widely used by local fishermen for fishing activities; however, most of the boats currently in use are made of wood, which are easily damaged, less stable, and require high maintenance. Therefore, a stronger, more stable, and more durable alternative fishing boat is needed. This study aims to obtain the principal dimensions of a small-scale fishing boat through field surveys, to obtain a fishing boat design using a combination of plywood and fiberglass, and to construct the fishing boat at full scale. The results show that the principal dimensions obtained from the field survey are a length of 5 m, a breadth of 1.15 m, and a height of 0.45 m. The design results consist of a Lines Plan, a General Arrangement, and construction drawings of the fishing boat. The boat construction was carried out sequentially through the stages of marking, cutting, assembly, puttying, lamination, painting, and testing, resulting in a plywood–fiberglass fishing boat that floats properly, shows no leakage, and is suitable for use by fishermen on the Lesing River.
