Abstract

Bengkalis Island, which is dominated by peatland, presents unique challenges in selecting appropriate concrete strength for construction. Low and medium-strength concrete are frequently utilized in this region to accommodate soft soil conditions that are prone to settlement. This study aims to evaluate the compressive strength achievement of low-strength concrete (f'c 10 and 15 MPa) and medium-strength concrete (f'c 20, 25, and 30 MPa) using the mix proportions specified in the 2025 Analysis of Work Unit Prices (AHSP), incorporating local materials from the Bengkalis area. The research methodology includes physical property testing of coarse and fine aggregates, slump testing of fresh concrete, preparation of cylindrical specimens, curing, and compressive strength testing at 28 days. The concrete was mixed according to the AHSP job mix formula using Dinamix cement, borewell water, and local aggregates. The results indicate that most of the mixtures met or closely approached the target compressive strengths. Low-strength concrete yielded results consistent with its classification, while medium-strength concrete showed varied results depending on aggregate quality and mixing precision. This research demonstrates that local materials in Bengkalis can be effectively used to produce low to medium-strength concrete in accordance with AHSP standards, providing benefits in cost efficiency and the utilization of local materials for construction projects in soft soil areas.
