Abstract
The Indonesia Smart Card (KIP) is an extension of the Bidikmisi program, which has been implemented since 2010. This program was officially introduced in 2020 and underwent improvements in 2021 through the launch of Kuliah KIP Merdeka. This study aims to determine the role of internal locus of control as a moderating variable in the influence of self-control, lifestyle, and financial management skills on the financial compliance of students receiving educational assistance. Using a quantitative approach and primary data from 186 respondents through purposive sampling, the analysis was conducted using PLSSEM through WarpPLS 8.0. The instruments were tested using convergent validity, discriminant validity, and composite reliability. The results showed that self-control and financial management skills had a significant positive effect on financial compliance, while lifestyle did not has a significant effect. Internal locus of control has been shown to strengthen the influence of self-control, not moderate the influence of lifestyle, and weaken the influence of financial management skills. These findings contribute empirically to the development of literature on student financial behavior and form the basis for the formulation of programs to improve financial literacy and discipline. This study provides empirical contributions to the literature on student financial behavior, particularly in the context of educational assistance programs, and serves as a basis for universities and governments in designing interventions to improve financial literacy and discipline.
