Abstract
A bridge is a structure built to connect separated areas such as rivers or roadways and plays an important role in supporting the smooth flow of transportation. This study aims to design and develop a bridge vibration monitoring device based on the internet of things as an early detection system for potential structural damage. Testing was conducted at three measurement points: the first end, the middle section, and the second end of the bridge. Based on the overall results from the three testing tables, the measured vibration frequency values ranged from 0.50 Hz to 1.50 Hz. At the first end point, the vibration values were relatively stable within the range of 0.50–1.00 Hz. In the middle section of the bridge, the vibration value reached 1.50 Hz when heavier vehicles passed. Meanwhile, at the second end, the vibration values ranged between 0.50 Hz and 1.50 Hz, depending on the type and load of the vehicles. All measured values were still below the safety threshold of 3 Hz, indicating that the bridge condition during testing was within normal limits. Overall, the designed system was able to detect and display vibration data in real- time and can be used as an initial monitoring tool to help maintain bridge safety and structural reliability.
