Pengujian Usability Website Kantor Dinas Pariwisata Kabupaten Bengkalis Dengan Pendekatan Heuristic Evaluation

This study aims to evaluate the usability level of the Bengkalis Regency Tourism Office website as a digital information and public service platform. The evaluation was conducted using the Heuristic Evaluation method based on Jakob Nielsen’s ten usability principles to identify interface issues, and was reinforced by the System Usability Scale (SUS) to quantitatively measure user acceptance. The initial evaluation results showed that the website obtained an SUS score of 49.5, which falls into the Not Acceptable category, indicating that the system's usability did not meet the acceptable standard. The main issues were related to navigation control, visibility of system status, and error handling. Based on these findings, the interface was redesigned by adding back navigation buttons, loading indicators, and informative error messages. The post-redesign evaluation showed an increase in the SUS score to 78.5, which falls into the Good category. This 29-point improvement indicates that the redesign significantly enhanced the website’s usability. Therefore, this study provides usability-based improvement recommendations to enhance user experience and the effectiveness of digital public services.
