Abstract

Air Conditioner (AC) is an electronic device that is widely used to maintain room comfort. However, damage to AC is often difficult to diagnose by users due to lack of technical knowledge. Therefore, a Decision Support System (DSS) is needed that can help in diagnosing AC damage systematically and objectively. This study aims to apply the Profile Matching method in building a Decision Support System for diagnosing Air Conditioner (AC) damage. In this study, several assessment criteria were used in the form of symptoms of damage to the AC, namely the AC is not cold, the AC does not turn on, weak wind blowing, noise, water leaks, and unpleasant odors. Each criterion has alternative in the form of causes of damage, such as dirty filters, refrigerant leaks, damaged compressors, electrical problems, fans not working optimally, and improper installation. The Profile Matching method is used to compare the actual profile based on the symptoms inputted by the user with the ideal profile of each type of damage, so that a difference value (GAP) is obtained which is used in the ranking process. System testing was carried out using 25 field test case data, where 5 cases were obtained with inaccurate diagnosis results. Based on these results, the system's accuracy rate reached 80%. The research shows that the Profile Matching method is capable of providing optimal ranking results and can help users diagnose AC damage in a more structured and objective manner.
