Abstract
The vertical milling process is one of the machining processes that are widely used in the manufacturing industry to produce components with a high level of precision. During the cutting process, Machine vibration can affect the quality of machining results, tool life, and Machine condition, so an accurate vibration monitoring system is needed. This study aims to design and realize a vibration instrumentation tool based on the ADXL345 ACCELEROMETER sensor and Arduino Mega 2560, as well as validate the measurement results of the HT-1201 vibration meter. The research method used is an experiment with a design and build approach, including Hardware design, Software, system assembly, and testing on turret-type vertical milling Machines using S50C steel material and HSS End Mill chisels with a diameter of 10 mm. The vibration acceleration data on the X, Y, and Z axes was processed into the Total RMS Acceleration value using a combination of three axis vectors, then compared with the vibration meter measurement results. The results of the study show that the designed tool is able to monitor vibrations in real-time. Based on 15 tests, an average Error percentage of 12.95%, an accuracy rate of 87.05%, and a Root Mean Square Error ( RMSE) value which shows the proximity of the sensor measurement results to the vibration meter. The results show that the developed tool has a good level of accuracy and is suiTable for use as an alternative to the vibration monitoring system of vertical milling Machines at a more economical cost.
