Evaluasi Dan Peningkatan Pengalaman Pengguna Website SMAN 4 Bengkalis Berdasarkan Hasil Audit Google Lighthouse

School websites are the primary source of information for students, parents, teachers, and the general public. Many schools in Indonesia use generic Content Management System (CMS) platforms such as “CMS Sekolahku,” used by more than 280 schools including SMAN 4 Bengkalis, but this uniform template can result in suboptimal performance. Prior studies generally stopped at evaluation without proceeding to source code implementation and impact validation, so this research
fills that gap through a case study of the SMAN 4 Bengkalis website. The methodology applies a mixed-method approach with a pre-test and post-test design, beginning with a Google Lighthouse audit reinforced by qualitative (interviews, observation) and quantitative (survey) data to identify performance, accessibility, and privacy issues. The source code improvement covered three techniques: image
optimization, code minification (HTML, CSS, JS), and rendering optimization, along with resolving a privacy gap involving sensitive data (NIK and NIS) exposed
on a public directory page. The post-test results on mobile mode showed a significant increase, with the average Performance score rising from 78.7 to 98.1, Accessibility from 78.6 to 98.3, and SEO reaching 100, proving the source code improvements directly addressed user-reported usability issues and improved the overall user experience.
