Abstract
The continuously rising consumption of electrical energy necessitates a monitoring system capable of providing real-time energy consumption data to facilitate more efficient usage. This research aims to design and construct an Internet of Things (IoT)-based electrical energy monitoring device capable of tracking electrical parameters in real-time via the Blynk application. The system utilizes a NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller, a PZEM-004T V3 sensor for measuring electrical parameters, a 16x2 I2C LCD for local display, and the Blynk application for remote monitoring over the internet. The research methodology encompasses hardware design, software design, system assembly, component-level testing, and comprehensive system testing. Measured parameters include voltage, current, power, power factor, frequency, electrical energy, and estimated electricity costs. Testing was conducted using various electrical loads: a 40 W incandescent lamp, an electric soldering iron, a hot glue gun, and a water dispenser. Measurement results were compared against manual calculations to determine the system's accuracy. The results demonstrate that the system effectively measures and displays data in real-time on both the LCD and the Blynk application. Analysis revealed an electrical energy measurement error rate of 1.70%, indicating good accuracy and suitability for use as an energy monitoring tool. Consequently, the designed device successfully meets the research objectives by providing an easy-touse, accurate, IoT-based monitoring system capable of delivering real-time information on energy usage and estimated electricity costs
