Abstract
The rapid development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology has encouraged the implementation of real-time monitoring systems in various electrical applications, including photovoltaic (PV) power systems. One of the essential components of a PV system is the Solar Charge Controller (SCC), which regulates the battery charging process and protects the battery from overcharging and over-discharging. However, most commercial Solar Charge Controllers provide only limited monitoring capability, where electrical parameters are displayed only through a built-in LCD, requiring users to perform on-site monitoring. This study aims to design and develop a Local Web Server-Based Solar Charge Controller (SCC) Parameter Monitoring System capable of monitoring electrical parameters in real time without requiring an Internet connection. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method by developing a monitoring system using an ESP32 DevKit V1 as the main data acquisition and processing unit, two INA226 sensors to measure voltage, current, and power on both the photovoltaic and battery sides, and a 16×2 LCD as a local monitoring display. The measured data are processed by the ESP32 and transmitted to a Local Web Server through a Local Area Network (LAN), allowing users to access the monitoring dashboard via a web browser using a local IP address. The dashboard displays photovoltaic voltage, photovoltaic current, photovoltaic power, battery voltage, charging current, charging power, charging status, real-time graphical visualization, and measurement data logs. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed monitoring system successfully displays all electrical parameters in real time with a data refresh interval of less than one second. Furthermore, the Local Web Server can be accessed simultaneously by multiple devices connected to the same local network without relying on cloud services or Internet connectivity. Therefore, the proposed system provides an efficient, stable, and practical solution for real-time monitoring of Solar Charge Controller parameters in small- and medium-scale photovoltaic applications.
