Abstract
Mall and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Bangko District, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau Province still use manual methods in the peanut crushing process for producing local specialty products such as kacang pukul. This manual process is carried out using glass bottles, which requires a long processing time, high labor intensity, and produces non-uniform particle sizes. To overcome these problems, a peanut crushing machine was designed and constructed as an appropriate technology solution. The machine operates based on the rotation of an electric motor transmitted through a pulley and V-belt system to the crushing shaft with a horizontal roller mechanism, consisting of one rotating roller and one stationary roller. The machine is driven by a 1 HP electric motor with a designed capacity of 30 kg/hour. Performance testing results show that the machine is capable of crushing 10 kg of peanuts in 1.3 minutes, 20 kg in 2.40 minutes, and 30 kg in 4.58 minutes. The crushing results are relatively uniform, and the machine operates stably during the process. Therefore, this peanut crushing machine is proven to improve time efficiency, reduce labor workload, and increase productivity for SMEs in the production of kacang pukul.
