Abstract

The issue of energy efficiency in vehicles is a major concern in facing the global energy crisis. One approach that can be used to reduce energy consumption is through reducing drag by implementing an aerodynamic vehicle body design. This study aims to design and build an energy-efficient vehicle body Buck with a streamlined shape that can reduce air drag and test the feasibility of fiberglass material as a body forming material. The methods used include designing the body geometry according to the length to height ratio (L/H), calculating drag with basic aerodynamic equations, and testing the material mechanics using the three-point bending test method referring to the ASTM D790-03 standard. The results of the material bending stress test are compared with the air pressure resulting from the drag force at a certain speed.
