Abstract
Transformers are one of the essential components in industrial electrical systems that operate continuously; therefore, their thermal conditions need to be monitored to maintain reliability and prevent failures. The temperatures of phases R, S, and T, as well as oil temperature, are important parameters for assessing transformer operating conditions. This study aims to analyze transformer conditions based on the temperature parameters of phases R, S, and T and oil temperature as a basis for implementing preventive maintenance in the Fiberline 8 Area of PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper. The research method involved field observations, collection of oil temperature monitoring data, measurement of phase R, S, and T temperatures using a thermal camera, and analysis of temperature differences between phases. The data were then compared with the applicable operating limits as a reference for determining transformer conditions and maintenance actions. The results showed that the transformer oil temperature generally ranged from 40–60 °C and remained below the critical limit of 85 °C. However, temperature imbalance was identified in one transformer, namely IP823-T14, with an indication of a hotspot under certain operating conditions. A high temperature difference between phases may indicate load imbalance or problems with electrical connections. In addition, an oil leakage condition was found in transformer IP824-T16, which requires follow-up maintenance. Based on the analysis, the transformers are generally still capable of operating; however, periodic temperature monitoring, connection inspection, oil leakage repair, and preventive maintenance are required for transformers showing abnormalities to prevent more serious damage.
