Abstract

Lost items at the Information Technology Building of Bengkalis State Polytechnic are still handled manually. Students must visit the security post or contact security officers via WhatsApp to obtain information about lost items, while officers record reports in logbooks and share information through unstructured internal group chats. This condition causes the search process to take longer, report data to be poorly documented, and students to have difficulty monitoring the status of their reports independently. This study aims to develop a website-based Lost and Found application as a solution to these problems. The application was developed using the Waterfall method with the Laravel 11 framework and MariaDB database. The main features include user registration and login, lost and found item reporting with photo uploads, category-based search, a matching feature that connects lost item reports with found item reports based on item name, category, location, and description, report verification by security officers, claim submission with proof of ownership, status change notifications, and digital report archives. The results of Black Box Testing indicate that all application features function properly. With this application, students can report and monitor lost items independently, while security officers are better supported in managing, verifying, and documenting reports.
