Abstract

This study aims to design and manufacture a simple sheet metal bending tool for fabrication practice in a sheet metal workshop. The background of this study is the use of manual bending methods which require greater effort, longer processing time, and often produce less precise bending results. The designed tool uses a simple mechanical system consisting of a frame, hinges, locking bolts, and an operating lever, making it easy to manufacture and operate.
The research methods include problem identification, literature study, design, manufacturing, assembly, and tool testing. The results show that the developed sheet metal bending tool can make the bending process easier, faster, and produce neater bending results compared to manual methods. In addition, the tool can be used as a learning medium to improve students’ skills in the field of fabrication engineering.
