Abstract
Mosques as places of worship have routine activities that are scheduled daily, particularly during the five daily prayer times. To maintain the comfort of worshippers, the use of air conditioners (AC) is an important supporting facility. However, AC operation in mosques is still largely managed manually, which can lead to unnecessary energy consumption and increased operational costs. Therefore, an automated system is required to control AC usage efficiently and effectively.
This study aims to design and implement an Internet of Things (IoT)-based AC control system using the ESP8266 microcontroller. The system utilizes prayer time schedules as a reference to automatically turn the AC on and off. In this system, a VS1838 infrared sensor is used to receive AC remote control signals, and an IR LED is used to retransmit these signals, which are amplified using an S9014 transistor. In addition, the system is equipped with a buzzer alarm that functions as a sound indicator to notify when the system is active or executing certain commands.
The test results show that all system components function properly and are well integrated. The system is able to automatically control the AC according to the prayer schedule and provide sound notifications through the buzzer alarm. Therefore, this system is expected to improve energy efficiency and assist mosque administrators in managing AC usage more effectively.
